Barefoot running is controversial. On the one hand you have the barefoot runners making extraordinary claims for the benefits of barefoot running such as improved running efficiency and less injuries and the natural feel of barefoot running. On the other hand you have the scientists and biomechanists saying that there is no evidence to support the claims, let alone any evidence that barefoot running is actually any better. The barefoot running community to quote evidence, but most of what they quote does not show what they claim. This leads to a lot of debates and discussion on forums about barefoot running and its place.
