Last year, I had little to no knowledge of what an exchange traded fund (ETF) was. I guess you could say I’m from the old school of investing and like to deal in long-term returns, i.e., stocks and mutual funds. Then a friend of mine suggested I give a serious look into etf trend trading. “You can sell short,” he told me. “Meaning that you can rally against falling prices and still make money. You can’t do that with mutual funds,” he added. After discussing the cost, he replied: “An ETF is MUCH less than paying a broker or fund manager. And you can turn your money around quicker.” All of his points are valid.
